Every person is a part of a family system that has been built and learned over time. You have the power to deconstruct it and build something new.

About Carrie

I grew up in an active family in Oklahoma City and am a citizen of the Chikasaw Nation. I started my education at Oklahoma State University on a music scholarship for bass clarinet with plans to pursue veterinary medicine (show me all your cute animal photos!). As it often happens, my degree plans changed and I graduated from Oklahoma State with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.

Inspired by offering adolescents better and more effective care, I completed a master’s degree at the University of Texas-Austin in Clinical Social Work, focusing on adolescents and families in crisis. I worked for Child Protective Services serving adolescents in CPS custody and the juvenile justice system; I am not afraid of tough exteriors and have been really successful in building bonds with people that have otherwise experienced neglect.

My practice is shaped by over ten years of experience working with adolescents, young adults and families. My therapeutic approach is focused in attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, and family systems theory.

I love the diversity that being a Clinical Social Worker offers, allowing me to work for a foster care agency, a children’s hospital, a blood cancer center, the public education system, and now a chance to serve you and your family through groups, individual, and family therapy.

Carrie, the human

When I am not with clients, I like to spend time with my husband and dogs, do home remodel projects, and take in all of the festivals, events, and live music that Austin has to offer. I also enjoy traveling, yoga, being outdoors, and working on my art.
