About Diana

I grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana as the youngest of 3 siblings. My family was not native to Louisiana, moving there from the Northeast when I was 4 years old. We never really settled into being truly “from Louisiana” and growing up in an environment that didn’t often match our family culture was difficult. But to this day, I still get giddy about eating Cajun cuisine and really love crawfish and boudin.

I often got in trouble for talking too much. I just wanted to connect with people. Coming from an academics-focused family, I always had more of an interest in people and social dynamics than anything else going on in a classroom, so it made sense when I knew early on that I wanted to be a therapist and social worker. My joy is to connect with others, make them feel seen, and know who they are.

I am Jewish and growing up in the Deep South meant I was doing the dance between trying to blend in while also honoring my cultural identity. Sometimes this looked like hiding my Jewishness and keeping secrets to avoid being seen as different. Other times I was proudly writing friends’ names in Hebrew and educating others on what being Jewish meant to me. I know what it’s like to feel torn between two worlds and wanting to be accepted by both.

I found Jewish summer camp to be a safe haven. I remember my first summer at camp at age 10, looking around and being in awe that everyone in the space was Jewish and I could finally relax and belong. I found amazing role models during these years and they inspired me to work with teens when I started my career. I personally know the healing power of having a caring safe adult in your corner.  Camp and my love for connecting with people translated into my pursuit of a helping profession to support young minds navigating life’s challenges, especially for those who felt they did not fit in.

CLIENT REVIEW

“Diana was the first therapist to really listen to me.”

The space Diana creates for her clients to make great progress towards their goals is a powerful thing built on deep compassion for those she works with, sharp insight into life’s challenges, and a toolkit for creative problem solving she has built along the way that can help anyone who’s ready to take control of their mental health journey.

Diana is very patient and she shows up without judgement, but with care and compassion.

Shortly after moving to Austin in 2016, I began working with kids and teens at one of the local synagogues, just as I had planned. What I didn’t plan for was meeting my now husband while we were co-teaching 8th grade in the education program. It was a full-circle moment when I could be connecting with teens that don’t always feel seen and valued - my dream - and also be seen and valued by someone else for just being myself - I want to make sure you feel that way too.

My experience working with individuals and families in inpatient hospitals, outpatient programs, schools, summer camps, and community programs has led me to expertise in working with a wide range of people. I am passionate about helping navigate life stressors and mental health issues that come with managing Depression, Anxiety, OCD, Autism/ADHD, relationships, burnout and life transitions. I consider myself to be a fervent ally to the LGBTQ+ and Neurodiverse communities.

In our work together, my goal is for you to feel supported and empowered in your healing journey. I hope to guide you to recognize and use your strengths to make the most of your life and circumstances. My trauma-informed perspective will enable us to reach a level of safety where you can feel vulnerable and find your voice. I believe deeply in the healing power of a secure therapeutic relationship that is balanced with skills and education to create a holistic personal experience. Healing is a process that is unique for everyone, and I strive to join and accept you wherever you are in that process.

Diana, the human

In my free time, you can find me spending time with family and friends, cross-stitching, enjoying a comedy special or podcast, or loving on my little dog, June. I appreciate art and design (I am a maximalist who desperately wants to be a minimalist).  I am a sucker for a houseplant and I am always down for a jigsaw puzzle, crossword, or sudoku.

I have a very sweet little dog named June, pictures readily available upon request. But to start, she looks just like the puppy emoji.

I spent 13 summers at Jewish summer camps. I started as a camper and continued on through staff and leadership team.

I tend to always have a comedy podcast playing in the background.

  • I love to give my husband impromptu plant tours of the house, running around showing off new growth.
